THE MAN WHO NEVER WAS: EPISODE 1
STORY
AAYUSHI SUTHAR
4/30/2025
The rain poured relentlessly, washing the city in hues of gray. Aryan sat in his apartment, staring at the flickering streetlight outside. He had always believed that life was a series of choices, yet tonight, he felt like a puppet in someone else’s play.
The clock struck midnight. A message appeared on his phone.
“Do you know who you are?”
A chill ran down his spine. No number. No name. Just a question that felt personal. He ignored it, but minutes later, another message came
“You are living a lie, Aryan. Wake up before they erase you.”
His breath hitched. Erase him? Who was ‘they’? His fingers hovered over the keyboard when a loud knock echoed through his apartment. Slow. Measured. As if whoever was outside already knew he was awake.
He walked to the door, his pulse hammering. “Who is it?”
Silence.
Another knock.
Swallowing hard, he unlatched the door and swung it open
Nothing. No one. Only the wet streets and the howling wind.
But as he stepped forward, he noticed something that made his stomach lurch.
His nameplate was missing. Not just his name, but the entire plate. As if he had never lived there.
And then, his phone buzzed one last time.
“I told you. You are disappearing.”
